• Is your customer service better than your competitor’s customer service?
• Have you done customer surveys to determine if providing a higher level of customer service is a significant buying criterion?
PU: Your Product Uniqueness
Your fifth option is to base your Marketing and Sales strategy on some unique feature of your product. The uniqueness of your product can manifest itself in several ways.
• Does your product have patent or copyright protection and is, therefore, legally unique?
• Does your product have an actual design feature that makes it different from its competitors?
• Alternatively, you could promote some attribute of your product that is not actually unique, but your competitors have not chosen to use this particular feature in their promotional strategy—therefore your product would be perceived as being unique, when in actuality the only thing that is unique about your product is your marketing strategy.
• Using the words “new and improved” or similar terms can also be a variation of “uniqueness” because the product is a new or improved version.
